Early Careers
We are committed to developing the next generation of talent. Whether you are just starting out or exploring a new direction, we have a programme for you.
Our programmes
Apprenticeships
A real job with a salary, holiday leave and free training built into the working week. You will have a dedicated mentor, one-to-one coaching and the chance to network with apprentices across the council and county.
Work Experience
Short placements of up to one week, mainly for young people, to experience working life at the council, build confidence and enhance your CV before committing to a career path.
Who are these programmes for?
Apprenticeships
Open to anyone aged 16 and over — whether you are entering work for the first time or retraining in a new field. There is no upper age limit. You will be treated like any other employee, with a salary, the same holiday entitlement and full support throughout.
Work Experience
Primarily aimed at school and college-aged young people who want to understand what working in a local authority feels like. Placements help you decide whether a career in local government is right for you.
