About Us
Discover who we are, what drives us and why Gloucester City Council is a rewarding place to work.
Who we are
Gloucester City Council is a dynamic local authority at the heart of one of England's most historic cities. Our vision is simple: to make Gloucester a city that works for everyone.
The city is diverse, with communities known for coming together in both times of need and times of celebration. When you work here, you are not just doing a job — you are directly shaping the place where people live, work and raise their families.
What we do
We deliver a wide range of essential services to the people of Gloucester — including planning, housing, environmental services, street care, elections, visitor attractions, community wellbeing and cultural events. We also manage some of the city's most loved spaces and institutions, from the Museum of Gloucester and the Guildhall to the city's parks and crematorium.

Where we work
Most of our roles are based at the Eastgate Centre, a modern accessible open-plan office designed for collaborative working, in the heart of the city. Some of our teams work from the vibrant Guildhall building, our appointments centre, the Museum of Gloucester or the beautiful grounds at our crematorium. Wherever you work from, you will enjoy a collaborative working environment — often without set desks, but always with the option to book — and a laptop from day one.
We are always looking to improve how we work and we offer flexible, hybrid and agile working to give our people a great work-life balance. Our dress code is relaxed — professional and comfortable.
How recruitment works
We use Gloucestershire County Council for our recruitment services, so you may receive emails from them as part of the process.
Our commitment to you
